Curriculum vitae: Prior to coming to the High Performance Computing research, Itaru Kitayama has worked on a High Energy Physics experiment called BABAR at SLAC in California as a member of the collaboration. Currently he’s been involved in an R&D of a broader range of HPC tools, especially Scalasca and also a study of performance profiling of applications on K computer at RIKEN R-CCS. At STAIR, his main research focus is Computational Neuroscience; using the JURON pilot system at Juelich Supercomputing Centre in Germany, working on GPU acceleration of a brain simulator called NEST within an international collaboration group. He holds a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas.
