At the 2021 Jülich End-of-Year Lecture Evening on November 18, the two young IBI-3 researchers and future startup founders Dr. Gabriela Figueroa Miranda and Dr. Viviana Rincón Montes presented their new Malaria biosensor. Tackling one of the most dangerous and most widespread diseases of the world, their low-cost, reliable and user-friendly device exceeds the often insufficient sensitivity and selectivity of existing testing methods, using an aptamer based detection system on a one-way chip sensor combined with a reusable portable reading device.

In front of a restricted number of present audience at the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn and a large number of online audience, they opened the scientific part of the evening with the first of three exciting presentations. Under the theme “Jung. Forscht. Wirkt.” (“Young. Insights. Impact.”), they gave insight into the creative, exciting and pioneering science that takes place in our labs

The presentation of Gabriela and Viviana can be seen in a YouTube video recording.
