Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe - Fourth Implementation Phase

In general, the mission of PRACE is to enable high impact scientific discovery and engineering research and development across all disciplines to enhance European competitiveness for the benefit of society.

PRACE-4IP is designed to build on and seamlessly continue the successes of the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) and start new innovative and collaborative activities. These include: assisting the transition to PRACE 2; strengthening the internationally recognised PRACE brand; preparing strategies and best practices towards exascale computing, coordinating and enhancing the operation of the multi-tier HPC systems and services, and supporting and educating users to exploit massively parallel systems and novel architectures.

Twenty six partners collaborate in the Fourth Implementation PRACE Phase (PRACE-4IP) project: PRACE aisbl and its 24 Members under the co-ordination of FZJ. PRACE-4IP complements and extends the work undertaken in PRACE-1IP and PRACE-3IP , e.g. to deliver a broader set of HPC services suitable for use by industry.

The project is funded by the European Union (EU) under grant agreement number 653838.

The grant period is February 2015 until December 2017.
